Ain Mohammed is an ancient village located in the north desert of Qatar that was built in the 19th century. It was deserted after its four wells went dry.
Brief
Restoring the existing houses in the village and transforming the village into a tourist attraction location.
This proposal was requested by the Qatar Museum Authority to highlight its role in reviving Qatar’s heritage and archaeology regions and supporting the Qatari culture.

Goals
- Establishing the idea that people who created this modern country characterised development and sophistication, their ancestors were simply Bedouins who took the desert as a home.
- Providing the opportunity to revive the Qatari heritage.
- Support and stimulate tourism in the northern regions of Qatar.
- Rehabilitation of heritage sites to become open for visitors.
- The restoration project aims to preserve the heritage and the cultural landscape.
- Establishing the culture of Qatari ancient heritage to children and preserving it with practice.

Process
- Researching the old architectural method of the old buildings.
- Take coordinates of the old buildings on the land. (with the help of an architecture engineer).
- Researching and collecting some old photos taken in this village before it gets deserted.
- Researching the traditions and heritage of the country and make a list of activities that the resort can provide.
- Designing new buildings to mimic old buildings after restoration and planning the land in this way using AutoCAD.
- Visualising the designed plan by creating a 3D model for the resort using 3D Max.
- Making a video presentation explaining the proposal.
- Creating an identity for the village.

I collected some old photos of the village before getting deserted to understand the architectural methods. I investigated how to restore some buildings as they were in the past by remodelling these buildings by tracing the old photos.
