I produced this piece while doing historical research about type. It started with The column of Trajan then the ancient Egyptian writings, and finally with the Cuneiform. This research made me start looking for the literature of that time. When I was looking for ancient Egyptian literature and poems, I found interesting pieces about love and stories about professions like farming and building. Then, I selected a piece of text and decided to retype it in a contemporary style while provoking the ancient spirit to it.

This script is called “The Satire of the Trades”. It is from the ancient Egyptian literature of the Middle Kingdom around (2040-1782 BCE). This is about a father advising his son to become a scribe because life is hard & the best life possible is one where a man can sit around all day doing nothing but writing.
